This might seem like an odd question to ask but it's really important to me to find out.

Is there any way that people can post anonymously on this forum? I ask because of some very difficult experiences on another forum that I'd rather not see repeated. Essentially I'm looking for a forum where anonymity is not possible.

Cheers,

Stuart

People can - when registering - chose whichever username they wish. This might be their name, a nick name or indeed anything they wish (as long as it is not offensive). Thereby, anyone can post under any title they wish.

May I add, that should you feel that you are having problems with another poster, then the moderators are here to ensure everyone plays by the rules and not to ruin anyone's StudentNurse.org.uk experience.

Saying that, we are generally a friendly forum so happy posting

That's great. Thankyou.

The other site has a forum where people can literally be unidentifiable - even their username is hidden. This has become an invitation for abuse.

It's good to know that there is no such mechanism here.

Cheers,

Stuart

I was unsure what you were meaning, on reflection, the only place where people can post without giving their username is the 'shout box' at the bottom of the index page. However, this is generally not used.

The forum administrator - Lulu - is also able to see poster's IP addresses. As we have had the very occasional banned poster returning by using a different email address.

Thanks Paulie,

That's all I needed to hear.

Cheers,

moved this here as it seemed most appropriate.

just to clarify
only registered posters can use the forum and the shout box although you dont need to use your forum name for the shout box. no guest or anonymous posts can be made unless members have registered with that as their user name.

most forums cannot be read by non members.

anybody can register to become a member but if they violate the rules they may be banned.

people may register with multiple user names if they have more than one email address, which can be useful if somebody wants to post about an issue without wanting to be identified by their normal user name.

if people want to change their user name they can do so by pm-ing me with their change of name.

Lulu
